Legal Counsel - Compliance and Labor & Employment
Job Description:
Procter & Gamble is seeking a Compliance and Labor & Employment Counsel. The position is located at our Greater China headquarters in Guangzhou, China. As a part of our Greater China Legal Department, you will help uphold P&G’s high ethical and corporate standards. This Compliance and Labor & Employment Counsel will interact with business clients, outside counsels, and other Legal team members to provide best-in-class compliance and labor & employment support. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Ethics & Compliance:
- Stay updated on key legal compliance topics, such as anti-bribery laws, and maintain expertise in global and regional compliance policies and processes.
- Provide expert legal guidance on compliance matters and policy development.
- Conduct compliance training for employees to ensure understanding and adherence to regulations.
- Identify and assess compliance risks, and develop and implement programs, policies, and processes in collaboration with the local compliance board.
- Utilize the required system to manage matters, including budget and outside counsel’s work.
Labor & Employment:
- Offer legal advice on labor and employment-related policies, local laws, and regulations, including areas such as employment contracts, overtime, co-employment, and termination.
- Provide legal support in internal investigations and disciplinary actions.
- Lead labor mediation, arbitration, and litigation proceedings.
- Stay informed about industry trends and share and implement best practices.
- Utilize the required system to manage matters, including budget and outside counsel’s work.
Qualifications:
- Law degree and qualified to practice law in China or possess a certificate of China's Unified Qualification Exam for Legal Professionals.
- 5 or more years of experience in a corporate legal department or a mix of private practice and in-house experience. Experience in the consumer products industry is desired, but equivalent experience in comparable or related industries will be considered.
- Significant expertise in the following areas: general commercial law, corporate governance, ethics and compliance, labor and employment, and some experience in litigation.
- Ability to work under pressure with tight timelines, maintaining a result-oriented approach. Excellent ability to prioritize and effectively work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proven ability to anticipate legal issues, assess risks, develop effective legal strategies.
- Excellent communication skills in both oral and written Chinese and English.
- An optimistic approach, with a focus on excellence. Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members and cross-functional, cross-cultural partners.
- Demonstrated commitment to ethical conduct and a "do the right thing" mindset, coupled with good business acumen.
