Design Manager (Beauty)

You will craft major design projects for the innovation of Olay and Safeguard in a fast-growing business in the beauty sector. You are a key part of the commercial team that aims to develop “Cool and Funky” designs based on urban trends that win with Millenials and Gen Z. Leaning on marketing strategy, you will integrate and adapt packaging design that will win the hearts of consumers regionally.

Your team
You will report to the Associate Business Director APAC for Olay and accountable to 2 Brand Managers who work on Olay and Safeguard respectively. You will also establish cross-functional partnership with marketing, package development, purchasing, suppliers and agencies to harmonize work done.

How success looks like

After 1st month:
• Learning about Olay and Safeguard Brand and Brand Equity and Key Strategies
• Understanding the key processes involved to get a project into market with focus on the packaging.

After 1st quarter:
• Develops breakthrough packaging design for key projects assigned that excite the customer teams and customers
• Leading design work through cross-border learning from trends and insights

After 1st year:

• Demonstrates a track record of developing packaging that is loved by consumers and retailers and the products that are launched deliver breakthrough business results
• Exhibit design leadership with passion and a role model for change in innovation strategies
Responsibilities of the role
• Lead major design project: responsibilities including design brief creation, success criteria definition, project timeline, creation, budget management, design agency management and lead project deliverables.
• Visualize strong leadership skills to envision & craft new business solutions by power of design while demonstrating strategic thinking and hands-on executions.
• Demonstrate strong collaboration and communication skills to lead the multi-function project team.
• Develop design vision and strategy by learning from trends and insights.
• Lead work with speed & flexibility in uncertain circumstances.
• Help organization to follow the global equity to make the end-result execution right in responsible markets.

Role Requirements
• Formal background (design degree from an accredited college or university).
• Strong foundation in Brand Identity/Industrial Design with min 4 years industry relevant experience
• Portfolio demonstrating design expertise with eye for beauty (strategy and execution).
• Real passion for design that sparks creativity and innovation with external partners and builds momentum across functions.
• Superior project management skills and ability to work without supervision. Manage work load, monitor and report on actuals.
• Strong collaboration, influence and communication skills
• Great sense of creativity.
